An IP address is a unique address assigned to each device connected to a network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication. It serves two main functions: host or network interface identification and location addressing.
A static IP address is a fixed IP address assigned to a device on a network. It doesn't change, unlike dynamic IP addresses which can change. Static IPs are often used for servers, network equipment, or other devices that need to be reliably reachable.
