Application filtering policy in networking involves controlling the types of applications and services that can be accessed on the network. This is done by setting rules to allow or block specific applications based on their characteristics, such as port numbers, protocols, or application signatures, to manage network traffic and security.
Creating Application Filtering in RAY Controller includes three steps:
1. Creating Application filtering Policy
2. Mapping the Policy in the Security group.
3. Mapping the security group in WLAN.
Go to the desired cluster, in which you want to implement application filtering.
Step1.To create Application Filtering Policy
1. Go to Profile
2. Then go to Policy
3. Click on the +create Policy
4. Give a Profile name and Description, After that click on the Definitions.
5. Once you click on Definition, a list will pop-up, select Application Policy as shown in the below image.
6. In Application Filtering, two options are there, select any as per the requirement.
Allow- If some particular applications are to be allowed, then rest will be blocked.
Deny- If some particular applications are to be blocked, then rest will be allowed.
7. Click on Applications, and select the required application that are to be either allowed or blocked.
8. Enable, BYOP if any applications is not listed in applications mentioned in the list.
Then, Click on Save button.
2. Now we have to assign this Application-filtering policy to the security group.
To assign the policy to the security group follow the below steps:-
Step1:- Go to Profile
Step2:- Go to Security Group
Step3:- Go to +Create Security Group
Step4. Click on Application Filtering Policy. Then, click on check box (Before, Enable Application Filtering Policy)
Now, Select the Application Filtering Policy from the drop down by clicking on- Application filtering policy list.
Step5. Go to Advance, Select the mode in which this Security group is to be implemented.
Possibles options would be:- Gateway, Bridge + Firewall, Bridge + No Firewall.
Step6. Now click on Save button.
3. Now we have to assign this Security group in WLAN.
