IP Reservation and Port Forwarding are both related to networking and are commonly used in home or office network setups.
IP Reservation: When you have a device on your network that you want to assign a specific IP address to, you can set up an IP reservation on your router. This means that the router will always assign the same IP address to that device whenever it connects to the network. This can be useful for devices that you frequently access, such as a printer or a network-attached storage (NAS) device.
Port Forwarding: Port forwarding is a technique used to allow external devices to access services on your local network. When a device from the internet tries to connect to a specific port on your public IP address, port forwarding allows your router to forward that traffic to a specific device on your local network. This is commonly used to host services like web servers, game servers, or remote desktop connections from within a private network.
