A WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) is a network that allows devices like laptops, smartphones, and tablets to connect to the internet or communicate with each other without using wires. It uses radio waves instead of cables to transmit data.
Prerequisites for Setting Up a WLAN with a Captive Portal:
- Captive Portal Configuration: The captive portal must be created and saved.
- Policy Setup: Appropriate policies should be defined and configured.
- Security Groups: Relevant security groups must be properly created and assigned.
- Go to WLAN under Profiles Tab:
- Log into your Cloud Controller.
- Home Page > Profiles > WLAN
- Setup WLAN with Captive Portal
- Setup a name for the WLAN according to your requirements, under definitions select Captive Portal.
- Select the type of connection (Wired or Wired+Wireless) you want to establish according to your requirements. Select the Captive Portal you want to setup on this WLAN.
- Under the tab "Plans", select all the security groups you want to apply on this captive portal. To add multiple security groups click on the "+" sign on the right hand side of the tab.
- Setup the network interface according to your requirements, by selecting customized or default configurations for Gateway, Bridge+Firewall and Bridge No Firewall.
- If you have to bypass some devices, there are two ways implement this,
- You can individually add the devices using their MAC addresses.
- You can add those devices in one security group and add then select the group under the group tab.
- You can individually add the devices using their MAC addresses.
- Setup a name for the WLAN according to your requirements, under definitions select Captive Portal.
- Save the Setting:
- Once the WLAN has been configured according to your requirements, click save to save and publish the WLAN on the network.
