In a wireless network, a radio channel is the specific frequency used for sending and receiving data. Devices like routers, access points, and phones use these channels to talk to each other.

Different Wi-Fi types (like 802.11n or 802.11ac) work on different frequency bands.

  • 2.4 GHz usually uses channels 1 to 11 (in the US).

  • 5 GHz has many more channels to choose from.

Choosing the right channel helps reduce interference and improves Wi-Fi performance.

Ray Wi-Fi Access Points use smart features like RRM (Radio Resource Management) and DCS (Dynamic Channel Selection) to automatically scan and pick the best channel based on your environment.

If you want to change the channel manually, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Profiles section, then click Radio section.

  2. Go to the Radio section, then click on + Create Radio to set up a new radio profile.

  3. Enter a Profile Name and Description.
Then choose the hardware and select the right definition based on the hardware you’re using.

  4. Select your region from the list.

  5. Go to the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Configuration section.
Set Channel Mode to Manual, and then enter the channel number you want to use.

  6. Finally, click "Save" and check the job status.
