TROUBLESHOOTING USERS NOT GETTING GOOD SPEED ON WIFI:
1. Check the speed received on LAN(Wired) infrastructure .
2. If the wired infra is getting satisfactory speed, then check the tx/rx link speed of the client device .
This can be done by clicking on the clients menu tab from the Ray controller--> click on the action menu tab of the client device that is facing speed issue. as shown in image below
then view tx/rx speed
3. The link speed should be greater than the client's speed expectation. Probable reasons for low link speed would be :
a. The band (2.4 will have much lesser link speed as compared to 5 Ghz)
b. The signal strength , the further you go from the access point, the lesser link speed will get negotiated.
c. The client's HT capability. If the radio profile is configured as HT80, but the client's only capable of connecting as HT40, then the link speed will be comparitively lesser.
d. Too much noise on the current channel. If in your current environment, there are too many wifi ssids already being broadcasted, possibility is that the channel is already polluted. In this case, normally the AP will search for a better channel automatically OR you can run a manual channel scan from debugging utilities(Coming Soon) OR you can set the channel manually from Radio profile.
4. If all the above parameters seem to be fine, check the speed test on that particular AP and view the results in Dashboard > Network statistics
click in the actions menu to view detailed information from speed tests.
5. If the AP itself is getting lesser speed, then this could something to do with the customer's Network Infrastructure .
as you can see above speed tests from dashboard.
6. Check the link speed of the wired port to eliminate cable issues. This can be checked from Appliance Details.
For example above is sign of network issue as AP is not getting 1000 Mbps from the cable.
7. If all the above seem to be okay, please raise a support ticket.
