Once logged in, navigate to the Captive Portal , Types of Captive Portal section from the main dashboard or menu.
To Create an OTP via SMS Captive Portal by first configuring the OTP settings and then attaching them to the Captive Portal:
Step 1: Create OTP Configuration
- Go to Captive Portal section from the main menu or dashboard.
- In the Captive Portal settings, find and select OTP Configuration
- Under OTP Configuration, click on +Create OTP Config to begin the process of creating a new OTP configuration.
- Add a Name: In the configuration page, provide a Name for the OTP configuration (e.g., "SMS OTP Configuration").
- Select OTP Type: OTP/ Exhausted_Quota
- Set OTP Length: Define the number of characters for the OTP (typically 6 or 8 digits). This is the length of the OTP code sent to users.
- Set OTP Expiry Time: Define how long the OTP will remain valid once generated. For example, you can set it to (10 -15 minutes), after which the OTP expires, and a new one needs to be requested.
Notes:
The last two fields, "Template" and "Description," must be entered exactly as shown. Any spacing & other minor errors will prevent the SMS code from being sent to the user to connect to the internet. Please ensure these fields are written exactly as required.
Step 2: Create SMS Gateway Configuration
- In the Captive Portal settings, find and select SMS Gateway Configuration.
- Under SMS Gateway Configuration, click on +Create SMS Gateway Config to begin the process of creating a new SMS Gateway Configuration.
- Add Name (e.g., SMS OTP Configuration)
- Choose Country From Drop Down
- Select Method (GET/POST)
- Add URL and Query Parameters as shown below example.
Note:
Every Fields must be entered exactly as shown. Any spacing & other minor errors (Upper-Lower case, /,:,etc.) will prevent the SMS code from being sent to the user to connect to the internet.
Please ensure these fields are written exactly as required.
Step 3: Create a New Captive Portal
- In the Captive Portal page, click on the +Create Portal button to create a new portal.
Step 4: Configure Pre-Authentication Settings
- On the Pre-Authentication tab, click on Skip to bypass any additional pre-authentication configurations.
This allows you to focus on configuring the login page (e.g., "OTP Via SMS") directly without adding extra steps for pre-authentication.
Step 5: Select the Authentication Template
- Under the Authentication section, select the OTP Via SMS template from the available options.
Users can connect to the network when they add the OTP, which is get from SMS.
Step 6: Assign a Name to the Portal
- Assign an appropriate name for the Captive Portal. This name will help you identify the portal for future management or updates.
Example: "FreeWiFiPortal"
Step 7: Select the Business Category
- From the Business Category dropdown, select the category that best represents your network. This could be something like a Café, Restaurant, Bar, Mall etc.
Step 8: Attach OTP Config
- From the OTP Config Dropdown, select file which you want to attach with captive portal.
In the Assets Management page, you can also Upload a logo and Image to personalize your portal’s page.
- Click the Upload Logo option and select your logo file (ensure it meets the required file format and size).
- Click to Select Background Image as per your requirement.
Step 9: Apply the Changes
- After assigning the name and selecting the business category, review the settings and click Save to create the Captive Portal.
